Situated in the town of Rustenburg in the North West province of South Africa. North West bariatric comprises a team of dedicated professionals that will be available to support you through all the steps of your transformation through the bariatric process. Modelled on the IFSO centre of excellence program we aim to meet all your needs through the bariatric process and follow up.



Dannita Borragerio: as clinical psychologist Dannita is specialised in your assessment prior to surgery, dealing with eating disorders, depression and all the mood and psychiatric disorders associated with obesity. She will be responsible to fixing your relationship with food prior to and following bariatric surgery.

Dr Amanda Agathagelou: as consulting psychologist dr Amanda will be involved in training and support after surgery, helping you adapt to the new you after bariatric surgery. Specialist in relationship counselling, marriage counselling, rehabilitation, therapy for depression and anxiety. She will help you adapt to a world that will change as the pounds come off.



Marlene Odendaal: as the dietician in the team Marlene will be doing the initial assessment of dietary status, teach you what to eat and when to eat it. She will be with you every step of the way, training you on how to prepare for surgery and manage all dietary questions and advice after surgery.



Dr Shuping Mokgosi: After finishing his training as a specialist physician in Bloemfontein dr Shuping has been in private practise at Netcare Ferncrest hospital since 2008. He will be preparing you for the surgery and optimise comorbidities to ensure the best possible result. Apart from looking after all your endocrinological needs he will also be doing the sleep studies, stress ecg’s, vitamin replacement and long term follow up to ensure as your body changes after surgery your medical needs are met.



Dr Gerrit Opperman: after finishing his training as a specialist surgeon in Bloemfontein dr. Gerrit joined the private surgical community since 2010 at Life Peglerae hospital. He specialises in laparoscopic surgery and received training in advanced metabolic and obesity surgery at the world class IRCAD institute in Strasbourg’s University Hospital in France. He will be performing the surgery and guiding you through the perioperative period.
